The UN in Indonesia Civil Society Organizations Advisory Committee
To enable persons with disabilities and other left behind groups in Indonesia to fully participate in civil society, the UNCT established the UN Indonesia Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Advisory Committee. It is made up of a range of Indonesian CSOs selected to provide the UNCT with advice and insight and ensure UN initiatives, programs, and communications align with and effectively address the needs and interests of both civil society and the Indonesian population.
The committee plays a multifaceted role. It offers guidance to the UNCT through inputs to ongoing and future UN interventions, it assists in bolstering UN Indonesia's partnerships with a variety of organizations, particularly those catering to marginalized groups within the country, and it acts as a voice for the underprivileged and highlights their most urgent issues.
The committee members are a gender-balanced group of up to 20 individuals nominated and invited by the UNCT, who each serve for an initial term of two years. They must originate from legally registered CSOs, networks, NGOs, community-based organizations, or academia and must include individuals from various marginalised groups, including persons with disabilities.
